Pb SWIMS

In 2010, Pb Swims was founded because people were being turned away from LCAC due to lack of proper swimming attire.​ Pb Swims ensured swimsuits were available to borrow and/or purchase.

In 2015, Pb Swims replaced the broken diving board within LCAC.

In 2021, Pb Swims began investigating options for an indoor swimming pool, fiscally sustainable, built to last, and available to all in response to the county commissioners closing the pool.

In 2022, Pb Swims proposed that the county commissioners budget to upgrade and make necessary pool repairs warrantied for 10 years. The commissioners declined.

In 2023, on September 27th Pb Swims received its own 501c3 designation.

In 2024, Pb Swims circulated a petition to get a dedicated sales tax on the ballot.
City voters approved a 1/2 penny sales tax with revenue dedicated to the operations and maintenance of an affordable public aquatic center November 5, 2024.

1993 Lake County Parks & Recreation (LCPR) managed.

1999 Shut down, LCPR & LCSD could no longer afford to operate and maintain.

2000-2004 Citizen Driven Renovation of the Pool within the School.

2003 Lake County entered a 25-year IGA.

2004 Lake County Aquatic Center Opened.

2020 LCAC Facility with Most Visits.

2020 Shut down December 12th for repairs.

2021 Shut down “permanently” by county commissioners.

History has taught us a dedicated source of revenue is needed to operate and maintain a public swimming pool.

Thank you for approving the .5% dedicated sales tax with revenue going to operate and maintain an affordable public aquatic center.

2025 The State Department of Revenue will collect the City .5% Sales Tax and allocate it to the City for the aquatic center fund.

Now, Pb Swims is focusing on the capital campaign to renovate our local aquatic center. This will require swimming pool replacement, ADA upgrades, and HVAC upgrades for safe operation. ​​
